Educational Background and Experience

Joanna earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Washburn University in Kansas, where she gained a foundational understanding of social systems and human behavior. She then pursued advanced studies at Grand Canyon University, earning a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This program equipped her with the skills and knowledge to address a wide range of mental health issues effectively.

Joanna also served as president of Scottsdale Parenting Group, a non-profit organization providing parenting education to mothers of children from birth to early adolescence.

Therapeutic Approach

Joanna’s therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and a trauma-informed framework, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. She is fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through EMDR HAP (Humanitarian Assistance Program), specializing in helping clients process trauma and build resilience. Joanna also combines attachment theory with narrative therapeutic approaches to help clients deepen their understanding of relational patterns and reframe their personal stories to promote healing and growth.

Joanna works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families, providing compassionate care to address a wide range of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship issues, and infertility.
